We are happy to start our first Customer Spotlight with a true favorite of ours, The Country Goose. The Country Goose is located at 115 Main Street in Cold Spring, New York. The owner, Leonora, is a true family member to the entire community. She brings her personal selected products, both local and imported, together in a Old Fashion Store atmosphere that is enhanced by Leonora herself!! The Country Goose carries a large selection of Bear Mountain Coffee sold by the pound & half pound. She will grind your coffee if required. Highland Baskets is a full service gift basket business based in “The Country Goose” country store in Cold Spring, New York. Hudson Valley Magazine chose Highland Baskets designs as the best in the area. All baskets are custom designed to fit the needs and interests of the recipients. Owner Leonora Burton’s work has also been featured in “Gift and Decorative Accessories, Gourmet food, The New York Times, The Journal News” and other publications. The store carries a wide range of unique gift items and gourmet food items from the U.S. and Europe, with everything from kitchenware and dishes to candles and children’s toys. Local visitors value finding “one of a kind” special gifts that can’t be found in large chain or department stores. They also appreciate the personalized service and special attention offered to every customer!

History

Established in 1986.

Starting as a small “Country Store” in 1986, The Country Goose attracted a devoted following among both locals and visitors to the Village of Cold Spring. In 1990 Highland Baskets was established as an offshoot to the retail store. The store is now one of the most successful businesses in the Hudson Valley.

Meet the Business Owner

Leonora grew up in Wales, and stared her career in the film industry, working for Pathe Pictorial in London. She moved to the U.S. in 1967 taking executive positions at Warner Brothers Films and Warner Books. In 1986 she decided to set up her own business. She moved to Cold Spring, NY with her husband and twin boys and established “The Country Goose”.
